Group Bookings FAQ

Group Bookings – Frequently Asked Questions

What is considered a group booking?

Golfplay bookings for 13 people or more are considered to be a group event.  Parties of 12 or fewer can book their simulator bays directly from our website.  Keep in mind that each simulator bay can accommodate up to 6 individual golfers, and that it takes about 1 hour per golfer to play a full round of 18 holes.  You can book 2 or 3 bays adjacent to each other and have a mini-tournament, or book into our VIP Lounge, which is a lot of fun for groups of up to 12 people.   If you are looking to book a larger party or for a date that’s outside of what is shown online,  please give us a call or fill out the contact form and we will get back to you to help plan your event!

Do I need to provide a deposit?

Yes – We require a 50% deposit.   This is based on the proposed budget which may include simulator time, pre-ordered food & beverage as well as applicable tax and service charge. The remaining balance will be due on the day of the event. Any additional items you order at Golfplay on the day of your event will be added to the bill and paid at the conclusion of the event by credit card.

What if I'm not sure of my guest account?

It’s very important that we know how many people will be coming so we can determine the number of bays will be needed, how much food to prepare as well as making sure we are staffed to ensure the event is the absolute best it can be. We understand there may be a few last minute additions to your group, and while we will do our best to accommodate, we can’t guarantee we will have the additional capacity to do so. Additional Guests will be accounted for on your final bill at the conclusion of the event.

If you are having trouble confirming attendance numbers, simply give us your best estimate. We will allow you to adjust the final total up to 3 days prior to your event.

What are the different options available for playing golf?

Great question!  Our golf events can be tailored to match the unique needs of your group, and the type of experience you are trying to create.  Have a lot of beginner golfers? We can incorporate a skills clinic with our PGA of Canada Pro at the beginning to set everyone up for success – and fun.  We also have virtual fantasy courses and games that are more suited to a broad range of golf skill levels – ask us about Life’s Best or our golf darts game – fun for all.

Have a competitive group?  We can set up a 9 or 18 hole tournament at one of our 175 courses, in individual. 2 man scramble or alternate shot team format, complete with prizes, closest to the pin and longest drive contests.  Just like the outdoor game, except there’s no chance of being rained out!  Want a mix of business and pleasure?. . .Our VIP Lounge can be set up for corporate presentations of up to 20 people, followed by a golf event with everyone side by side in our simulator bays – a great way to team-build!

How soon do I need to schedule my party/event?

For smaller groups of 12 or less, search for an open time via our online booking platform on our website.   If you’re planning an event more than two weeks in advance, or are a larger group of 13 or more, give us a call or fill out our contact form and we’ll contact you to review the options.

What staff will be available to keep my Guests happy and my party/event running smooth?

Golfplay assigns a dedicated team specifically to work all of the parties/events hosted at our venue. They will wait on you and your Guests while you play in your assigned bays. So, you can just kick back and have FUN! It’s important to note that we schedule our staff based on your Guest count, which is why making sure we get an accurate number from you in advance is so crucial.

What about the food and drink?

For small groups of 12 or less, guests can simply order off the menu.   For groups of 13 or more, we recommend pre-ordering food in advance. We can help you plan and select appetizers, mains and desserts from our menu to satisfy everyone’s needs – and your budget. Food can be served right to the simulator bays or buffet style either before or after the golf in our dining lounge and bar area.  Beverages can be handled using drink tickets or running a single tab that is settled up at the end.

Can I bring my own birthday cake?

We are responsible for ensuring that the preparation, service and delivery of all food and beverages meets our high standards of EXCELLENCE and food safety. Homemade cakes are prohibited since we cannot be sure they were prepared in accordance with food safety regulations. We do allow sealed, store-bought cakes and cupcakes. But who wants cake when you can enjoy Golfplay’s famous dessert pizza with chocolate hazelnut sauce, candied pecans and walnuts with whipped cream? If you would like to decorate or bring in balloons – just ask us. We want your event to be special too and we’ll do our best to help!
